Aerator
FIXTURES & VALVESAn aerator is the small mesh screen screwed onto the tip of a faucet spout that mixes air into the water stream to reduce splash and save water. When a faucet turns weak or sputtery, a mineral-clogged aerator is the most common cause — unscrew it and rinse the screen before assuming a bigger problem.
Houston Note:Houston's moderately hard water scales up aerators fast. Soaking them in white vinegar twice a year dissolves calcium deposits and keeps faucets flowing full strength.
